I have been working with families for over ten years as an early childhood educator and more recently as a massage therapist and doula. I grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and received my BA in developmental psychology from Vassar College.
After graduating, I decide to move out to California in search of better weather. I began my studies in Asian Bodywork Therapy at the Acupressure Institute. Throughout my training, I was amazed by how frequently massage and acupressure alleviated physical ailments after the Western medical approach already had proven unsuccessful. This affirmed my belief that we need to develop a more integrated approach to health care.
As I built my massage practice and started focusing on women’s health issues, I came to see what a transformative experience birth is for women. I decided to become a doula, so I could support women throughout their journeys into motherhood. Today I couldn’t be more grateful that this is the work that I do. Eventually, I hope to continue my studies in naturopathy and midwifery so I can improve the level of care that I provide to women and their families.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, yoga, and photography. I currently live in Oakland with my fiancé David and our cat Mo.
